The verse says “anyone” can call on the name of the LORD because the passage explains that this salvation by faith in Jesus Christ is not only for the Jews, just because He was a Jew, but for foreigners as well, e.g. Greeks. Everyone, Jew or Gentile (non-Jew), can call on the name of the Lord and God will not turn him away. God hears and saves. If I don’t really “feel” saved yet, what do I do? Well, I will keep seeking and calling on Him, I’m not one who’s easy to give up. That’s exactly what I did and now I know that salvation is not a “feeling”. It is knowing that I know that I know, beyond a shadow of doubt, that I am saved, because the word of God says so. When I called on God and sought Him long and hard enough He led me to discover the word of God – the Bible. It is through the Bible that I understood that God is a Person who wants to be a Father to me, a Friend, a Companion, a Helper, a Lover, my Everything. Just like a Dad, He loves it when His children calls on Him and He will never turn them away. Are we all children of God? Adam, the first man, was a son of God, because He created him. (Luke 3:38) Human beings, being all descended from Adam, are all sons/daughters of the Creator God of the Bible. If we feel alienated or cut off from Him it’s to some part because of culture, religion, or the way we were raised up but the major barrier is sin. Because of the original sin of Adam that we inherited we are fallen sons and daughters and are sinful by nature since birth. So, we need to be adopted by God the Father through Jesus Christ who became sin for us that we may be the righteousness of God. An exchange happened at the crucifixion of Jesus. That is the way back for us prodigals, as the Bible says. I myself did not have much faith before, but reading the Bible created faith in my heart, and I kept calling on His name as I kept learning and understanding, and He did save me!
