Jesus in Proverbs

That’s Jesus in Proverbs!

In the Bible righteousness is found only in Christ. When you pursue righteousness you are pursuing Jesus. In the New Testament “life” is “an abundant life” and “eternal life”; “loyalty” is “faithfulness”; “honor” is “glory.” You find abundant life and glory in Christ. The Old Testament foreshadows Christ. This proverb or wise saying in the Old Testament points us to Christ who is revealed in the New Testament. We may do acts of righteousness but if they are not done with the right heart we are still not righteous in the eyes of God. We still fall short of God’s standard. A right heart can only come from God and it is the heart of Jesus. It is received only through the Spirit of Jesus – the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is He whom God sent to earth to indwell those who have made a Covenant with Him through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ. “Righteousness” (being good) and “loyalty” are actually virtues that lead us to Jesus.
