The psalm from which this passage comes from is THE go to Bible chapter for the believer in times of fear, danger, trouble, etc. God Himself is a shield, a shelter, a stronghold, a bastion of protection for the believer. When the believer puts his trust in Him the shadow of God Himself will go with him wherever he goes. What goes with that “shadow”? Oh, all the goodness of God! God doesn’t just move around like us humans or even like an earthly VIP. When He moves around He comes with His entourage of angel armies, His glory that brings signs, wonders, favor, goodness, love, joy, peace, holiness, etc. Why would God do such a thing for the believer? Verse 14 says, “Because he has loved Me, I will save him;
I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.”
What a truly protective, good, caring, awesomely loving, generous and BIG GOD He is!!!
