Here Jesus contrasts Himself with the false prophets. He is the Good Shepherd who takes good care of the sheep because He loves them. (John 10:1-18) The sheep also know His voice but do not recognize the voice of strangers or fake shepherds. Sheep, by nature, recognize the voice of their shepherd and will follow only him, none other. They cannot be easily stolen. But the false prophets are like thieves who break into the sheep pen and steal the sheep. The false teachers and prophets represent their master, the devil, who is the true thief. He comes to steal our lives, our health, our wealth, derail our dreams; and he kills our bodies, destroy our minds, our emotions, our marriages and relationships, etc. I believe in Jesus, the true Good Shepherd and I follow only Him, the source of my abundant (eternal) life!
