Pray Together

This verse is usually used when the believers gather together to pray, emphasizing the fact that even if only two or three believers gather together to pray God is still there in their midst, very much honored that they took the effort to gather together to pray. Indeed, two or three praying together becomes more powerful rather than two or three praying individually for the same things. The greater picture upon which this verse is set is unity among believers in general. It is so important to bring a “lost” or erring brother or sister in the Lord back to the fold. The previous passages talk about the parable of the lost sheep (verses 10-14), the brother who sins (verses 15-17), and the parable of the unforgiving servant (verses 21-35) which is a lesson on forgiveness in general. It is so important that believers love one another, forgive one another and help one another not to break fellowship from the rest of the flock.

Jesus’ prayer to His Father for the believers – John 17:22 The glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, just as You loved Me.
