If the scourging of Jesus at Calvary brings healing to the believer then why is it that not all believers get healed when they pray for healing from Jesus? It’s a mystery that nobody really seem to have unraveled. But we can start with this main clue given in the Bible: James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. ~~~ It involves the working together of a loving and mature (meaning, people who can be trusted not to gossip about other people’s sins) group of elders in a church, the humble confession of sins by the sick person to this trusted group of elders, the anointing of oil and supplication to God by these elders in behalf of the sick person. Apparently, this is how believers are to apply the healing of Jesus from His sufferings at Calvary for them. Thank you, Jesus! You are truly the LORD God our Healer!
